Sunday Celebration  02/02/2025

WELCOME & INVOCATION

Our Affirmation of Faith

We believe in God the creator of us all, whose desire for
diversity is seen in the rainbow of humanity. With unrelenting
passion God Seeks to be in relationship with all of us.
We believe in Jesus the Christ, who is the embodiment of
God’s redeeming grace; And in the Holy Spirit through whom
that grace continues its restoring work.
We believe in the Church. It is the body of Christ on the earth
today. As ministers of this church, we are all called like Jesus,
to heal, to deliver, to teach, and to serve.
We believe that together we can change the world,
in our time and for all time Amen!

Affirmation Chorus: In This Place
In this place, There’s joy that I can’t explain
In this place, There’s healing for all my pain
There is love unlike I’ve ever known
Everybody here makes me feel at home
As we gather here, I know I’m not alone
I feel God’s presence, Moving in this place..

Verse: All these pieces, broken and scattered, In mercy gathered, mended and whole
Empty handed, But not forsaken. I’ve been set free, I’ve been set free
Chorus: Amazing grace, How sweet the sound
That saved a one like me, I once was lost
But now I’m found, Was blind but now I see
Oh I can see you now, Oh I can see the love in Your eyes
Laying yourself down, Raising up the broken to life (pause)
Verse: You take our failure. you take our weakness,
You set your treasure, in jars of clay
So take this heart, Lord, I’ll be your vessel, the world to see, your life in me
(Repeat Chorus (3x) Acapella on last)

SPECIAL SONG

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE:

With what shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before God on high? Shall I come before God with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand of rivers of oil? Shall I give my first born for my transgression, or the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? God has told you O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God? MICAH 6:6-8

Blessed are the merciful for they will be shown mercy. MATTHEW 5:7

Later when Jesus was eating supper at Matthew’s house with his close followers, a lot of disreputable characters came and joined them. When the Pharisees saw him keeping this kind of company, they had a fit, and lit into Jesus’ followers. “What kind of example is this from your Teacher, acting cozy with crooks and misfits?” Jesus, overhearing, shot back, “Who needs a doctor: the healthy or the sick? Go figure out what this Scripture means: ‘I’m after mercy, not religion.’ I’m here to invite outsiders, not coddle insiders.” MATTHEW 9:11-13

Be merciful, just as your God is merciful.  LUKE 6:36

PRAISE AND PRAYER

SPECIAL MUSIC

TODAY’S SERMON: “A CALL TO LOVE MERCY”

FINAL SONG CONGREGATION – I THEN SHALL LIVE

I then shall live as one who’s been forgiven.I’ll walk with joy to know my debts are paid.I know my name is clear before my Father;I am His child and I am not afraid. So, greatly pardoned, I’ll forgive my brother; The law of love I gladly will obey.

I then shall live as one who’s learned compassion.I’ve been so loved, that I’ll risk loving too.I know how fear builds walls instead of bridges;I’ll dare to see another’s point of view. And when relationships demand commitment,Then I’ll be there to care and follow through.

Your Kingdom come around and through and in me;Your power and glory, let them shine through me.Your Hallowed Name, O may I bear with honor,And may Your living Kingdom come in me.The Bread of Life, O may I share with honor,And may You feed a hungry world through me.
Amen, Amen, Amen
