Our Affirmation of Faith
We believe in God the creator of us all, whose desire for
diversity is seen in the rainbow of humanity. With unrelenting
passion God Seeks to be in relationship with all of us.
We believe in Jesus the Christ, who is the embodiment of
God’s redeeming grace; And in the Holy Spirit through whom
that grace continues its restoring work.
We believe in the Church. It is the body of Christ on the earth
today. As ministers of this church, we are all called like Jesus,
to heal, to deliver, to teach, and to serve.
We believe that together we can change the world,
in our time and for all time Amen!
Affirmation Chorus: In This Place
In this place, There’s joy that I can’t explain
In this place, There’s healing for all my pain
There is love unlike I’ve ever known
Everybody here makes me feel at home
As we gather here, I know I’m not alone
I feel God’s presence, Moving in this place..
THE WONDROUS CROSS
1ST VERSE: When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of Glory died
My richest gain I count but loss
And pour contempt on all my pride
2ND VERSE See from his head, his hands, his feet
Sorrow and love flow mingled down
Did ever such love and sorrow meet
Or thorns compose so rich a crown
CHORUS O the wonderful cross, O the wonderful cross
Bids me come and die and find that I may truly live
O the wonderful cross, O the wonderful cross
All who gather here by grace draw near and bless Your name
3RD VERSE Were the whole realm of nature mine
That were an offering far too small, Love so amazing, so divine
Demands my soul, my life, my all
REPEAT CHORUS REPEAT 3RD VERSE AND CHORUS
WHEN I SURVEY THE WONDROUS CROSS
ON WHICH THE PRINCE OF GLORY DIED
AT THE FOOT OF THE CROSS
Verse 1: At the foot of the cross, Where grace and suffering meet
You have shown me Your love, Through the judgment You received
And You’ve won my heart, And You’ve won my heart (Now I can)
Chorus: Trade these ashes in for beauty
And wear forgiveness like a crown
Coming to kiss the feet of mercy
I lay every burden down, At the foot of the cross
Verse 2: At the foot of the cross, Where I am made complete
You have given me life, Through the debt you bore for me
And You’ve won my heart, And You’ve won my heart (Now I can)
(Repeat Chorus twice, then instrumental)
Bridge: And You’ve won my heart,
And You’ve won my heart Now I can
(Repeat Chorus twice)
I lay every burden down, I lay every burden down
I lay every burden down, At the foot of the cross
I’m laying every burden down, I’m laying every burden down
AT THE CROSS
Oh Lord You’ve searched me, You know my way. Even when I fail You,
I know You love me… Your holy presence, Surrounding me,
In every season, I know You love me. I know You love me…
CHORUS: At the cross I bow my knee, where Your blood was shed for me
There’s no greater love than this. You have overcome the grave,
Your glory fills the highest place, What can separate me now…
You go before me, You shield my way. Your hand upholds me, I know You love me…
Verse:You tore the veil. You made a way. when you said that it is done(repeat verse)
And when the earth fades, Falls from my eyes, and You stand before me.
I know You love me. I know You love me…(repeat from chorus)
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE:
Calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “Anyone who intends to come with me must take up their cross and follow me. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to saving yourself, your true self. What good would it do to get everything you want and lose you, the real you? What could you ever trade your soul for?
MARK 8:34-37
But Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing alone. The Son does only what he sees the Father doing, because the Son does whatever the Father does. The Father loves the Son and shows the Son all the things he himself does. But the Father will show the Son even greater things than this so that you can all be amazed.
JOHN 5:19-20
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.”
2 Corinthians 5:17-20
In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days God has spoken to us by God’s Son, whom God appointed heir of all things, and through whom also God made the universe.
The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of God’s being, sustaining all things by God’s powerful word. HEBREWS 1:1-3
